Design & Build Quality
The DJI Avata 2 masterfully integrates protection and function. At 0.83 pounds, it feels solid in hand. The robust casing and fully enclosed propellers within a sturdy frame make the drone more resistant to collisions and increase safety. This Cinewhoop design is both practical and aesthetic. All parts are precisely manufactured, with barely any gaps. Materials appear high-quality and durable. The integrated battery contributes to its compact form and balanced center of gravity.
The drone weighs over 0.55 lbs (250g), so it requires FAA registration for both recreational and commercial use. Recreational flyers must pass the FAA's TRUST aeronautical knowledge and safety test. Commercial operators must obtain an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. All drones, including the Avata 2, are subject to Remote ID rules in the US.

The technical specifications of the Avata 2 are impressive for its size. Practical Test
In our practical test, the DJI Avata 2 convinced us completely. Starting is surprisingly intuitive thanks to the Motion Controller and FPV goggles. FPV newbies will quickly get the hang of it. Wrist control is precise and conveys an immediate sense of flight. Video transmission to the DJI Goggles 3 is stable and high-quality. The weight and robust construction ensure agile flight behavior. Minor collisions, like brushing a branch, are shrugged off by the Avata 2 thanks to its propeller protection, without interrupting the flight. The long flight time of 20-22 minutes is a real game-changer, allowing for extended flights.
The image quality of the 4K/100fps recordings is excellent. Videos are razor-sharp, colors are true to life, and the high frame rate ensures buttery-smooth footage. Only with very rapid rotations around the vertical axis can the single-axis stabilization reach its limits, which is often desired in the FPV domain.
Although the Avata 2 is robust, it is not an indestructible toy. Absolutely avoid high-speed collisions with hard objects, as this can lead to irreparable damage. Begin your FPV journey in open, safe areas.

The DJI Avata 2 benefits from DJI's mature software and app infrastructure. The DJI Fly App is user-friendly and clear, allowing for adjustment of flight parameters, firmware updates, and media management.
