ASUS Expands Hardware Lineup: From Liquid-Cooled AI Servers to Rugged Education Laptops

ASUS announces the H100-powered ESC N8-E11 server, the compact Zenfone 10, and a new series of ruggedized 14-inch laptops for the education market.

ASUS has been busy expanding its hardware ecosystem, introducing a wide range of products that span from high-performance AI servers to ruggedized laptops for students. The company is focusing on durability and specialized workflows, ensuring that whether you are training a large-scale AI model or working in a classroom, the hardware is built for the specific demands of the environment.

High-Performance Computing: The ESC N8-E11 AI Server

The most significant technical advancement comes in the form of the ESC N8-E11, a 7U dual-socket server designed for large-scale AI training and high-performance computing. According to ASUS, the machine utilizes the NVIDIA HGX H100 architecture, housing eight NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs. To manage the intense heat generated by these components, the server supports direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling, which helps improve power-usage effectiveness.

The internal layout uses a modular two-level GPU and CPU sled. This design reduces cable usage and prevents airflow chokes, which ASUS claims simplifies system assembly. The server is powered by 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors and features a dedicated one-GPU-to-one-NIC topology, supporting up to eight NICs and NVIDIA ConnectX-7 SmartNICs. For those requiring different configurations, ASUS also announced the ESC8000-E11, an eight-slot H100 PCIe GPU server that supports the NVIDIA NVLink Bridge.

Precision for Creators: ProArt Station PD500TE

Beyond the data center, ASUS is targeting visual professionals with the ProArt Station PD500TE desktop. The machine is designed for stability during long rendering sessions, featuring a multi-zone thermal design. What stands out visually are the ASUS Lumiwiz LED indicators on the chassis, which change color to show CPU and GPU status or indicate when a render is in progress. To prevent work interruptions, the power button includes a physical latch to stop accidental shutdowns.

Spec-wise, the PD500TE can be equipped with up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900 CPU and either NVIDIA RTX A4000 or GeForce RTX 4070 graphics. The system supports up to 128 GB of DDR4 3200 MHz memory and storage configurations reaching 4 TB for both SSDs and HDDs. ASUS notes that the machine operates below 40 dB at full load, roughly the volume of a library, and can send automated notifications to Microsoft Teams or Outlook when a rendering task finishes.

Compact Power: The Zenfone 10

On a different front, ASUS is preparing to update its mobile lineup with the Zenfone 10. A virtual launch event is scheduled for June 29, 2023, at 21:00 CST, which will be live-streamed at asus.click/Zenfone10.pr. The device continues the brand's focus on the compact smartphone market, specifically designed for comfortable one-handed use.

The manufacturer confirms the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform. While full details await the event, ASUS claims the Zenfone 10 will feature an evolved camera system specifically tuned for low-light and portrait photography. The software will also see updates, including AI-driven enhancements and UI tweaks to improve the user experience on the smaller screen.

Rugged Durability: TUF Gaming AS1000 and BR1402 Series

In related news, ASUS is bringing its "TUF" durability standards to portable storage with the TUF Gaming AS1000. This 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD is housed in an aluminum alloy chassis with an internal thermal pad for heat dissipation. The detail that matters for mobile users is its IP68 water-and-dust resistance and its successful completion of MIL-STD-810H 516.8 drop testing. It connects via USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x1, providing sequential read/write speeds of up to 10 Gbps.

The company is also making waves in the education sector with the BR1402 series, which it describes as the world’s first 2-in-1 ruggedized 14-inch laptop line for K-12 students. The series includes the BR1402C clamshell and the BR1402F 360-degree convertible. These laptops feature:

  • Spill-resistant keyboards (up to 400 cc) with tamper-resistant keys.
  • ASUS Antimicrobial Guard treatment on key surfaces.
  • TÜV Rheinland certified low blue-light displays.
  • A modular design for quick repairs of the battery and keyboard using captive screws.
The convertible model also includes a 13 MP world-facing camera and an optional MPP 2.0 garaged stylus for digital art and note-taking.

Expanding Home Connectivity

Meanwhile, ASUS is promoting its networking hardware through a "Worry-Free WiFi" giveaway campaign running from June 9 to July 16, 2023. The prize pool, valued at over $10,000, includes 70 extendable routers and a Zenbook 14 OLED laptop. The campaign highlights the company's AiMesh technology, which allows different ASUS router models to work together to create a single, seamless network managed through a mobile app.

From the high-density cooling of the ESC N8-E11 to the spill-resistant keys of the BR1402, ASUS is focusing on specialized hardware that addresses the physical and technical demands of specific user groups. As these products roll out through mid-2023, the brand appears committed to balancing raw performance with long-term reliability.
