Samsung Updates Hardware Lineup: High-Speed UFS 5.0 Storage and New Hospitality Displays Announced

Samsung has revealed the first UFS 5.0 storage solution for mobile AI and a specialized version of The Frame TV designed for the hospitality industry.

Samsung has been busy expanding its technical portfolio, ranging from internal mobile components to specialized display hardware. The company recently announced advancements in flash storage speeds and a new television model specifically for the hotel industry.

Samsung Unveils High-Speed UFS 5.0 Storage for Mobile Devices

The mobile storage market is preparing for a shift in performance as Samsung introduces the industry's first UFS 5.0 solution. This new memory standard focuses on high-speed data transfers required for on-device artificial intelligence tasks. The technology utilizes the latest JEDEC embedded memory interface standards to double the performance of existing mobile storage.

The new UFS 5.0 solution achieves a sequential read speed of 10.8 GB/s and a sequential write speed of up to 9.5 GB/s. These figures represent a significant increase over the previous UFS 4.1 standard. For comparison, current top-tier smartphones using UFS 4.0 or 4.1 often peak at around half these speeds, placing Samsung's new hardware in direct competition with high-end desktop NVMe drives.

Efficiency and physical footprint are also key components of this update. Samsung reports that the new solution is 40% more power-efficient than its UFS 4.1 predecessor. This improvement is attributed to the implementation of clock gating and multi-voltage technologies. Technical specifications for the hardware include:

  • Sequential read speeds reaching 10.8 GB/s
  • Package dimensions of 7.5mm x 13mm x 0.9mm
  • Storage capacities up to one terabyte (TB)
  • 16.7% reduction in physical size compared to previous models

Samsung plans to begin mass production of the UFS 5.0 chips in the fourth quarter of 2026. This timeline suggests that the storage will likely appear in flagship smartphones and tablets released in early 2027.

The Frame TV Expands Into the Hospitality Sector

Beyond internal components, Samsung is also making waves with its display technology. At the HITEC 2026 conference, the company launched a specialized version of The Frame TV (model HL03H) designed specifically for the hospitality industry. This model adapts the aesthetic focus of the consumer version to meet the requirements of hotel environments.

The hospitality model features a 4K QLED display with an Anti-Glare panel, designed to mimic the appearance of physical art. Unlike the consumer version, this model integrates all connection components directly into the display housing. This change removes the need for a separate One Connect Box, simplifying installation for hotel staff while maintaining a slim profile against the wall.

Samsung has added several software features to help hotels manage guest experiences. A new Collection Hub allows properties to curate art displays, while Generative Wallpaper uses AI to create custom backgrounds. For international travelers, the TV supports Live Translate for local broadcasts in six languages, including English, French, and Korean. Guest connectivity is handled through QR code scanning, which enables Google Cast and Apple AirPlay support.

The HL03H model will be available in 55-, 65-, and 75-inch sizes. Samsung intends to begin the global rollout of this hospitality display in the second half of 2026. The displays are compatible with the LYNK Cloud platform, allowing hotel managers to oversee digital concierge services and content from a central location.

These developments indicate a dual focus for Samsung as it moves toward 2027. By advancing both the invisible storage components that power mobile AI and the visible display technology used in commercial spaces, the company is positioning itself to support more data-intensive and integrated digital environments.
